If you want to unlock the ultimate character, you need to first unlock Paradox. After this, kill the Lich as Paradox and instead of the game ending, you’ll restart on the first floor as the Gunslinger. Get to the end, go to bullet hell and face the Lich. This time, instead of the normal fight, you have two Lich to fight.

Hey guys , I have played gungeon and 100% it on xbox. Recently I bought it on switch and have been trying to unlock the paradox . All four characters past have been defeated. The purple blob has not appeared at ALL I have done about 35 runs in a row where It has not shown , I fully complete the run (beating the past).
